How to get started — 4 simple steps

1

Unbox and connect

Remove the device from the packaging and connect it to your computer or mobile device using the supplied cable. You’ll see the Ledger boot screen within seconds.

2

Create a PIN

Follow the on-screen instructions to choose a PIN. This PIN protects access to the device and is requested each time you connect it.

3

Write down your recovery phrase

Your recovery phrase (24 words) is the only backup of your private keys. Store it offline — never share it and never enter it on a website or app.

4

Install Ledger Live & apps

Use the Ledger Live application to install blockchain apps, add accounts, and manage your portfolio. Ledger Live provides a trusted bridge between your device and the networks you use.

Security — designed from the ground up

Ledger devices isolate your private keys inside a certified secure element. Transactions are signed inside the device and verified by you on-screen. That means even if your computer or phone is compromised, your keys remain protected.

Best practices

  • Always buy from the official store or trusted retailers.
  • Never share your recovery phrase — Ledger support will never ask for it.
  • Keep your firmware up to date and verify app signatures through Ledger Live.

Frequently asked

Which coins does Ledger support?

Ledger supports Bitcoin, Ethereum, and thousands of additional coins, tokens and NFTs via Ledger Live and third-party apps. You can check full compatibility inside Ledger Live when adding accounts.

Can I use Ledger with mobile?

Yes — Ledger devices work with mobile (iOS & Android). Use Bluetooth-enabled models or connect via cable depending on your model, and manage assets with Ledger Live Mobile.

I lost my device — what now?

If you have your recovery phrase, you can restore your assets to a new Ledger or compatible wallet. If you don’t have the phrase, the assets cannot be recovered — that’s why storing the recovery phrase safely is critical.
